Canon's DR-7580, DR-5010C, and DR-2050C Scanners Named Editor's Choice by Leading Team of Office Equipment Analysts

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., March 8, 2007 – Canon U.S.A., Inc. has recently received three Editor's Choice Awards for the company's award-winningi DR-Series Scanners in the 2006 Better Buys for Business Scan-to-File Guide. The Canon DR-7580 scanner won the Editor's Choice Award for High-End Production Model scanners, the DR-5010C received the Editor's Choice Award for Midrange Production Models, and the DR-2050C received the award for Economy Models. The Better Buys for Business editor's choice awards are given to those machines that are the best overall buys and best performing products in their categories.

DR-7580

The DR-7580 is engineered to serve the high-volume data-capture and archival workflows for a wide variety of paper intensive image capture applications and environments. The DR-7580 operates at speeds up to 75ii pages-per-minute (ppm) simplex scanning letter-sized output, and up to 150ii images-per-minute (ipm) duplex scanning, in both black-and-white and grayscale mode.

The DR-7580 provides a multitude of advanced features for high-volume throughput including the ability to scan documents of different sizes in a single batch, and Multistream™ a feature that enables users to generate multiple images in a variety of modes (e.g. black-and-white, grayscale and advanced text enhancement) from a single scan. Canon's patented staple detection feature prevents damage to both the device and the scanned document by automatically halting the scanning process, reducing equipment jams and document damage. The DR-7580 also offers selectable ultrasonic and detect-by-length double-feed detection, automatic shading to ensure consistent image quality. Rated for an estimated daily duty cycle of approximately 10,000 scans, the DR-7580 is designed for ease-of-maintenance, durability and features user-replaceable feed rollers.

The new DR-7580 is bundled with Canon's scanning management and utility software – CapturePerfect 3.0 – which includes the ability to save as searchable and encrypted PDF forms, scan-to-mail and a host of image correction tools.

DR-5010C

The DR-5010C achieves speeds of up to 50ii ppm in simplex and 100ii ipm in duplex mode and capable of scanning documents up to 11"x17". The DR-5010C includes:

The DR-5010C comes bundled with an enhanced version of CapturePerfect, Canon's out-of-box office-scanning software, to further enhance your scanning productivity. CapturePerfect maximizes document scanning, viewing, saving, distributing and printing capabilities, and is an ISIS-compliant application - compatible with all the features and functionalities offered by the DR-5010C. CapturePerfect enables a number of image file editing and viewing functions, searchable and encrypted PDF file format support, as well as convenient ways to scan documents for different business imaging needs such as: scan page; scan batch-to-file, printer- or mail-; scan-to-presentation and scan job.

DR-2050C

The DR-2050C can scan letter-size documents in black-and-white or grayscale modes at speeds of up to 20ii ppm simplex and 40iii ipm duplex and 24-bit color at speeds up to 10iv ppm simplex and 20v ipm duplex. The DR-2050C is bundled with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 (Standard) and OmniPage SE, along with text enhancement mode which can be used to make text easier to read if the background of the document is dark or the text is written lightly in pencil.
